Devlog #11 | Week 46

It's ya boi, Ember.  We finished our second sprint session today, with various degrees of success.

On Monday the SIDETRACK crew, went out of our classroom/office to get a change of view, and some donuts. While eating donuts we mostly talked about team morale and communication. Something which had been slightly lacking for these last couple of weeks.
Both Wednesday and Thursday were cut short because of other school arrangements, which led to us having less time to work on Comfort Zone. This caused Sondre to feel quite a lot of pressure on him as our team's only programmer. So to try and help him out I've also started to dip my toes into Unity and coding, to hopefully lessen the pressure he feels.

And as you can see, I am a genius who definitely knows what I am doing at all times.

Sondre has also got to experience the joy of everything breaking on him, and has spent quite a lot of time trying to fix the issues that were popping up. So it's been a very frustrating week for him.

Other than familiarizing myself with Unity, I've also made a couple more assets for the game.  One being a tree with a little creature in it, which hopefully is meant to visualize when it's safe and unsafe to be outside of hiding. And the other being a flower meant to function as a resource to upgrade the safety zone when it's implimented.

Felix worked on developing "the Unknown" theme, and that's about all he did this week.

Which leads me to the conclusion of our second sprint session. This was my first time leading a sprint review, and I was afraid I would have no idea on how to lead it, but it went pretty well in the end. At least I think. We all noticed pretty quickly that our biggest "mistake" for this sprint session was overestimating the amount of work we could finish in a span of two weeks. So for next sprint session, we're gonna start with way fewer tasks, and rather add new tasks later when we finish the other ones. Instead of causing each other stress and feeling disappointed when there's still a bunch of tasks on the SCRUM board.

Next week we'll be heading to a Game Development Conference in Bergen, so we won't be making too much progress on the game (we also won't start our third sprint next week), and we'll be doing our first external playtest for our game. So that will be exciting.

Until next time, yeehaw.
