Devlog #13 | Week 48

Heyo! It's me Felix and I am back with another devlog! Been a while since I have written one haha. I'm going to write about some things we've done this week now that we have returned from our trip to Konsoll.

After a fun week at Konsoll in Bergen, we finally returned to our office to start working on our next sprint. Our goal with this sprint is to have a short playable demo of Comfort Zone where we can show off the different mechanics and let players get a feel for how the game will play out. We will then be showing the demo to a class in Oslo on Friday the 9th of December and get feedback that we can use to develop our game further and fix any possible issues.

We started off our week by sitting down and writing down new tasks we knew we needed to get done. For our demo we wanted the players to be able to walk around, jump, hide from danger, and collect items in order to expand the comfort zone. These are the main things we want the players to test out and give feedback to.

Sondre has been working on the jump mechanic this week in oder to make it smoother and feel better, and he has been working on the camera. Jenny has been learning how to code and she's been working on the comfort zone mechanic and item collecting. She has made a rough prototype of resource dumping which means the player can now dump the items they collect into a drop point which will expand the comfort zone and make it bigger.

I have mostly been working on music as usual but also a couple of sound effects like walking. I made a new theme for "The Unknown" which is the main danger area of the game, and I've also made a theme for the Comfort Zone area which is the main safe area of the game. Both of these tracks sound similar and are similar in length which means we can have a smooth transition between them every time the player exits or enters the comfort zone. You can listen to the previews below!

Seeking Comfort

That is pretty much everything we've been doing this week! Next week we will be travelling to Oslo to show off our game to a school there. Hopefully we'll get some good feedback that we can use! Thank you for reading and don't forget to follow us on our other socials for more updates and behind the scene stuff! https://linktr.ee/sidetracksb
